STATES OF THE BIG XII SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT Congratulations to Texas A&M Alumni, winners of the 2010 States of the Big XII Softball Tournament!       Photo on left: Texas A&M Softball Team 2010; Photo on right: Nebraska All Stars 2010 It was another beautiful day for the 8th annual States of the Big XII Softball Tournament at Bolling Air Force Base in southwest Washington, DC. The Texas A&M Alumni team won the prestigious trophy, and this was the sixth time that the trophy has been won by a Texas team. The Nebraska All-Stars played very respectably – losing to the Texas Republics in the semi-finals by only one run after spotting Texas 14 runs in the first two innings. Texas Republics then won the next game against the Texas A&M and were ahead by three runs going into the last inning of the final game but were no match for the Texas A&M who came back to win. The Nebraska Society has hosted the annual States of the Big XII Softball Tournament every summer since 2002, and has included teams from the states of Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. While most teams are organized in coordination with other State Societies and Congressional offices, any teams or players representing the Big XII are welcome to contact us at softball@nebraskasociety.org for more information. All teams must be coed and official ASA rules are enforced by umpires hired for the tournament. A special thanks to Red, Hot, and Blue BBQ and the Coca-Cola Company for providing the food and cold drinks.
