In 1987, a Student Intern Program was introduced...

to give young Nebraskans an opportunity to work and learn in public, private, or voluntary sector organizations in Washington D.C. Click here to read Intern perspectives on their DC experiences.

Any student currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with a 2 or 4-year public or private institution who also has lived or is currently living in Nebraska, or otherwise has current family ties to the state, and has been accepted or is applying to be accepted for an internship in the Greater Washington, DC-area for a minimum of 4 weeks with a public sector institution or organization (U.S Member of Congress; elected or appointed official; federal, state, or local government agency; or a 501(c)3 or 501(c)4 non-profit organization). Scholarships of at least $500 will be awarded to eligible individuals.
