Since 1876, the Nebraska Society of Washington, D.C. has sought to strengthen cultural and patriotic ties, binding Nebraskans living in the Washington D.C. area, and to promote the welfare of Nebraska, its citizens, traditions, and institutions. Today, the Society is one of the strongest and most vibrant state organizations in the Nation's Capital.

Join us Wednesday, February 8, 2012 to honor our 2012 Distinguished Nebraskan, Ms. Cathy Hughes, Founder and Chairperson of Radio One, Inc., the largest African American owned and operated broadcast company in the nation. Purchase your 2012 Nebraska Society Membership now! Success in our goals are very much dependent on our membership strength. Share your Nebraska Society experiences with others that they are encouraged to support the Society's future.

We are currently taking applications from young women ages 19 - 24 who would represent the state of Nebraska at the 100th anniversary of the Cherry Blossom Festival April 8 - 14, 2012. Each year the Society has an opportunity to select a "princess" representative to participate in the Festival's philanthropic, diplomatic and social events and represent her state. SAVE-THE-DATE: Thursday, March 1, 2012 as we celebrate 145 years of Nebraska statehood. Details to come.

SAVE-THE-DATE: Saturday, April 28, 2012 as we join together to provide service to our second home, the District of Columbia, in honor of Arbor Day, the tree planting holiday founded in Nebraska.

This year will we continue our Monthly Nebraska Happy Hours in conjuction with the DC Huskers, Creighton DC Alumni, and Nebraska Wesleyan DC Alumni. For updates, join our email list here.
