DISTINGUISHED NEBRASKAN AWARD

Congratulations to Jeff Raikes, our 2009 DNA Winner

The Distinguished Nebraskan Award Reception, honoring Jeff Raikes, will be held on February 2, 2010 at the Army-Navy Club at 901 17th Street NW, Washington, D.C., from 6 to 8 p.m. The reception will be business attire, with cocktails and heavy hors d’ouvres. You can purchase your tickets here online. The deadline to RSVP is January 22, 2010. Invitations will be mailed to members this week but you can RSVP online now.

The Nebraska Society selects a deserving individual (or individuals) each year to receive the Society’s Distinguished Nebraskan Award, presented for distinguished service to the state and people of Nebraska. Award recipients over the years have included doctors and athletes, civil servants and elected officials, businesspeople and entrepreneurs, filmmakers and performers, and many others. The Award is usually presented at a formal reception or dinner with the Nebraska Congressional Delegation and other distinguished guests in attendance.

Mr. Jeff Raikes is the CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and a native of Ashland, Nebraska. You can read his biography here.
