2000 Distinguished Nebraskans Award Recipient

Louis F. “Chip” Davis, Jr.

Radio listeners throughout the United States have heard a piece of Nebraska during the holiday season for more than two decades through the work of Chip Davis and Mannheim Steamroller.  Davis created Mannheim in the early 1970s, and the group’s Christmas albums featuring contemporary interpretations of holiday favorites, have since sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. Also, in 1996, Davis created the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s alma mater.
