Ron Hull and Jack McBride
In large part thanks to Ron Hull, Nebraska now has one of the best public broadcasting systems in the industry with Nebraska Educational Telecommunications. Hull’s programming credits include NETV's first national program series, “Anyone for Tennyson?” and, as head of programming for the national Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the acclaimed PBS history series, “The American Experience.” Although retired from his 49-year career in public broadcasting, Hull remains Professor Emeritus of Broadcasting at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL).
Jack McBride was the driving force behind the creation of Nebraska Educational Telecommunications, which operates Nebraska’s statewide television, radio and distance-learning networks. A year after his arrival at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, KUON-TV was initiated. After that, McBride oversaw the nine-station Nebraska ETV Network and creation of the Nebraska Public Radio Network, Educable (providing live coverage of the Nebraska legislature to homes) and other ventures during his 43-year career with Nebraska public broadcasting.
