1989 Distinguished Nebraskans Award Recipients Harold and Marian Battey Andersen Harold Andersen and his wife, Marian Battey Andersen, earned the Distinguished Nebraskan Award by teaming to provide Omaha superb civic leadership. Harold served as publisher of the Omaha World-Herald for 34 years, and Marian’s general service work with the United Way and the YWCA was award-winning. Since their DNA honor, the Andersens co-chaired the University of Nebraska’s fund-raising effort from 1993-2000 that earned more than $727.7 million in private support for the university. Harold continues to write columns for the World-Herald. Back to list
