The Honorable Carl Thomas Curtis

Carl T. Curtis served for 16 years in the House of Representatives and 24 years in the Senate, where – although never enjoying majority status – he used his influential seat on the Senate Finance Committee to campaign against expanding federal welfare programs. Mr. Curtis was born in Minden, Neb., and earned his bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Weseleyan; he later studied law in absence of a law school, passed the bar and served as the Kearney County attorney for three years.
