1981 Distinguished Nebraskans Award Recipient

Reverend Robert P. Hupp

During Rev. Hupp’s tenure as Executive Director of Boys Town in Omaha included the monumental change of admitting girls. The first girls to graduate from Boys Town did so in 1985. Rev. Hupp also presided over the creation of the Family Home Program, which allows children to live in homes run by married couples known as Family-Teachers rather than in dormitories. The homes have allowed the kids to grow in family environments. Hupp grew up in Clearwater, Nebraska, as the oldest of nine children.
