The Honorable Roman Lee Hruska
Roman Hruska served 24 years in Congress for the State of Nebraska, during which time he rose to be an influential member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and Senate Judiciary Committee. Hruska, a David City native, served one term in the U.S. House of Representatives before running for a vacant Senate seat in 1954, he was reelected thrice more and retired before running for a fourth term in 1976. The federal courthouse building in Omaha bears Hruska’s name.
