Loren Corey Eiseley
Loren Eiseley was a prominent scientist and poet who employed a distinct essay style, called the “hidden essay”, to explain complex scientific theories, such as human evolution, to the general public. The Lincoln native’s memoir, All the Strange Hours, in which he describes his journeys during the Great Depression, is considered to be his best work. Eiseley received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska and taught for many years at the University of Kansas, Oberlin College and the University of Pennsylvania.
