1967 Distinguished Nebraskans Award Recipient V.J. Skutt V.J. Skutt served as president and later as CEO of Mutual of Omaha for a combined 33 years.  During his time as president, Skutt oversaw the creation of the popular NBC television program “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom,” which featured wildlife and nature. Twenty-five years after receiving his Distinguished Nebraskan Award, construction finished on V.J. and Angela Skutt Catholic High School, which was namedafter the Skutts for their contributions to the Catholic community.
